Become a volunteer

The Southend Station is manned by volunteers, who are fully trained to provide a service to all those who use the sea, large ships, fisherman, yachtsman, sail-boarders, jet skiers, swimmers and beach users.

If you need to help in understanding the local tides and conditions, we are here to help. If you see someone in trouble on or near the water, let us know and we can get the necessary help to them quickly.

We Need More Volunteers Now!

Your eyes are the only qualifications you need. If you are able to give some of your spare time to helping others, then we will provide the necessary training to assist you to become a good watchkeeper able to provide assistance to all who are in need of it.
